✧ My father is a scorpion.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ شَيْبَانَ عَنْ أَبِي نَوْفَلِ بْنِ أَبِي عَقْرَبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ
أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الصَّوْمِ ؟ فَقَالَ: صُمْ يَوْمًا مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ. فَاسْتَزَادَهُ فَقَالَ: بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي، إِنِّي أَجِدُنِي أَقْوَى، فَزِدْنِي. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنِّي أَجِدُنِي قَوِيًّا إِنِّي أَجِدُنِي قَوِيًّا ! فَمَا كَادَ أَنْ يَزِيدَهُ، فَاسْتَزَادَهُ، فَقَالَ: صُمْ يَوْمَيْنِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ قَالَ: بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي أَجِدُنِي قَوِيًّا. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنِّي أَجِدُنِي قَوِيًّا، إِنِّي أَجِدُنِي قَوِيًّا ! فَمَا كَادَ أَنْ يَزِيدَهُ، فَلَمَّا أَلْحَمَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ
Translation

✧ He asked the Prophet ﷺ about fasting, and he said: "Fast one day each month." He asked for more, and said: "By my father and mother, I find myself stronger, so increase me." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "I find myself strong, I find myself strong!" He was hardly about to increase him, but he asked for more, and he said: "Fast two days each month." He said: "By my father and mother, O Messenger of Allah, I find myself strong." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "I find myself strong, I find myself strong!" He was hardly about to increase him, but when he persisted, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Fast three days each month."
