حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا زيد يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُرَّةَ أَبُو الْمُعَلَّى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ
ثَقُلَ مَعْقِلُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ، فَدَخَلَ إِلَيْهِ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ يَعُودُهُ فَقَالَ: هَلْ تَعْلَمُ يَا مَعْقِلُ أَنِّي سَفَكْتُ دَمًا ؟ قَالَ: مَا عَلِمْتُ، قَالَ: هَلْ تَعْلَمُ أَنِّي دَخَلْتُ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ أَسْعَارِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ؟ قَالَ: مَا عَلِمْتُ، قَالَ: أَجْلِسُونِي، ثُمَّ قَالَ: اسْمَعْ يَا عُبَيْدَ اللهِ حَتَّى أُحَدِّثَكَ شَيْئًا لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّةً وَلَا مَرَّتَيْنِ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَنْ دَخَلَ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ أَسْعَارِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ لِيُغْلِيَهُ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَإِنَّ حَقًّا عَلَى اللهِ [تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى] أَنْ يُقْعِدَهُ بِعُظْمٍ مِنَ النَّارِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، قَالَ: آنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ وَلَا مَرَّتَيْنِ
Translation

✧ Ma'qil b. Yasar became ill, and Ubayd Allah b. Ziyad entered to visit him. He said: 'Do you know, O Ma'qil, that I have shed blood?' He said: 'I do not know.' He said: 'Do you know that I have interfered in anything of the prices of the Muslims?' He said: 'I do not know.' He said: 'Sit me up.' Then he said: 'Listen, O Ubayd Allah, until I tell you something I did not hear from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once or twice. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever interferes in anything of the prices of the Muslims to make it more expensive upon them, it is a right upon Allah (Blessed and Exalted) to seat him in a great bone of the Fire on the Day of Resurrection."' He said: 'Did you hear it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' He said: 'Yes, more than once or twice.'
