حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا مَنْصُورٌ وَيُونُسُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ

أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى بِهِمْ سَكَتَ سَكْتَتَيْنِ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ وَإِذَا قَالَ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ سَكَتَ أَيْضًا هُنَيَّةً فَأَنْكَرُوا ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ فَكَتَبَ إِلَى أُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِمْ أُبَىٌّ أَنَّ الْأَمْرَ كَمَا صَنَعَ سَمُرَةُ

Translation

✧ He used to remain silent for a while after he finished praying with them. And when he recited the verse "Not the path of those who have evoked [Your] anger" (Al-Fatiha 7), he remained silent for a short moment. They objected to this, so he wrote to Ubay ibn Ka'b and Ubay wrote back to them that what Samurah did was correct.
