حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ أَنَّ أَبَا الشَّعْثَاءِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: مَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ إِزَارًا، وَوَجَدَ سَرَاوِيلَ فَلْيَلْبَسْهَا، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ نَعْلَيْنِ، وَوَجَدَ خُفَّيْنِ فَلْيَلْبَسْهُمَا قُلْتُ: وَلَمْ يَقُلْ: لِيَقْطَعْهُمَا ؟ قَالَ: لَا

Translation

✧ He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivering a sermon, saying: "Whoever does not find a waist wrapper but finds trousers, let him wear them; and whoever does not find sandals but finds leather socks, let him wear them." I said: "Did he not say: 'let him cut them'?" He said: "No."
