✧ Some people from Banu Tamim came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: "Rejoice, O Banu Tamim." They said: "You have given us good news, so give us?" He said: It was as if the face of the Messenger of God ﷺ was about to change. He said: Then some people from the people of Yemen came, and he said to them: "Accept the good news, since Banu Tamim did not accept it." They said: "We have accepted."

machine translationAl-Aʿmash differed regarding which of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ this hadith goes back to. Al-Aʿmash mentioned that it was ʿImrān b. al-Ḥuṣayn, while al-Masʿūdī mentioned that it was Buraydah b. al-Ḥuṣayb. The correct view in our opinion is what al-Aʿmash said about it. What indicates this is that al-Thawrī narrated it from Jāmiʿ b. Shaddād, agreeing with al-Aʿmash and opposing al-Masʿūdī, even though he fell short of some of its text that is in their two narrations.
