حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ سَالِمٍ أَبُو جَهْضَمٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَبْدًا مَأْمُورًا، بَلَّغَ - وَاللهِ - مَا أُرْسِلَ بِهِ، وَمَا اخْتَصَّنَا دُونَ النَّاسِ بِشَيْءٍ، لَيْسَ ثَلَاثًا: أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نُسْبِغَ الْوُضُوءَ، وَأَنْ لَا نَأْكُلَ الصَّدَقَةَ، وَأَنْ لَا نُنْزِيَ حِمَارًا عَلَى فَرَسٍ. قَالَ مُوسَى: فَلَقِيتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ حَسَنٍ، فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was a servant under command. He conveyed—by Allah—what he was sent with, and he did not single us out from the people with anything except three things: he commanded us to perform ablution thoroughly, not to eat charity, and not to mate a donkey with a horse.
