حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ يَعْنِي الْأَحْوَلَ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ، فَأَشْرَفْنَا عَلَى وَادٍ، فَذَكَرَ مِنْ هَوْلِهِ، فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يُكَبِّرُونَ وَيُهَلِّلُونَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ارْبَعُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِكُمْ وَرَفَعُوا أَصْوَاتَهُمْ، فَقَالَ: أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّكُمْ لَا تَدْعُونَ أَصَمَّ وَلَا غَائِبًا؛ إِنَّهُ مَعَكُمْ

Translation

✧ We were with the Messenger of God ﷺ on a journey. We came upon a valley and he mentioned its terror, and the people began to say takbīr and tahlīl. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'O people, restrain yourselves and lower your voices.' He said: 'O people, you are not calling upon one who is deaf or absent; He is with you.'
