حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ

كَتَبَ عُمَرُ فِي وَصِيَّتِهِ: أَنْ لَا يُقَرَّ لِي عَامِلٌ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ سَنَةٍ، وَأَقِرُّوا الْأَشْعَرِيَّ - يَعْنِي: أَبَا مُوسَى - أَرْبَعَ سِنِينَ

Translation

✧ Umar wrote in his will that no worker should be paid more than a year's worth, and appoint al-Ashʿarī, meaning Abū Mūsá, to be in charge for four years.
