حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الشَّرِيدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ أَوْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ يَعْنِي عَنِ الشَّرِيدِ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ كَذَا حَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبِي قَالَ
أَرْدَفَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَلْفَهُ فَقَالَ: هَلْ مَعَكَ مِنْ شِعْرِ أُمَيَّةَ شَيْءٌ ؟ قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: أَنْشِدْنِي، فَأَنْشَدْتُهُ بَيْتًا فَقَالَ: هِيهْ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَقُولُ: هِيهِ حَتَّى أَنْشَدْتُهُ مِائَةَ بَيْتٍ.

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ seated me behind him and said: Do you have any of the poetry of Umayyah? I said: Yes. He said: Recite it to me. So I recited a verse to him. He said: Go on. He kept saying 'Go on' until I had recited one hundred verses to him.
