✧ Mu'adh came to Yemen, or he said to Syria, and saw the Christians prostrating to their patriarchs and bishops. He reflected within himself that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is more deserving of being venerated. When he arrived, he said: O Messenger of Allah, I saw the Christians prostrating to their patriarchs and bishops, and I reflected within myself that you are more deserving of being venerated. He said: If I were to command anyone to prostrate to anyone, I would command the woman to prostrate to her husband. And the woman does not fulfill the right of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, upon her completely until she fulfills the right of her husband upon her completely, even if he were to ask her for herself while she is on the back of a camel saddle, she would give it to him.

machine translationHe contradicts Ayyūb in this hadith, for Hishām al-Dastuwāʾī gave a chain other than this one, and al-Nahhās b. Qahm narrated it from al-Qāsim with another chain. Al-Dastuwāʾī is a reliable, meticulous memorizer (ḥāfiẓ), while al-Qāsim b. ʿAwf is inconsistent in hadith (muḍṭarib al-ḥadīth), and I fear that the inconsistency (iḍṭirāb) comes from al-Qāsim.
