✧ Ibn Shaddad and Abu Burdah sent me, saying: Go to Ibn Abi Awfa and say to him: Abdullah b. Shaddad and Abu Burdah send you greetings of peace, and they ask: Did you use to pay in advance during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for wheat, barley, and oil? He said: Yes. We used to acquire spoils of war during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we would pay them in advance for wheat, barley, dates, and oil. I said: From one who had crops, or from one who had no crops? He said: We would not ask them about that. He said: They also said to me: Go to Abd al-Rahman b. Abza and ask him. He said: So I went and asked him, and he said the like of what Ibn Abi Awfa said.
