حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُبَيْلٍ قَالَ قَالَ
لَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنَخْتُ رَاحِلَتِي، ثُمَّ حَلَلْتُ عَيْبَتِي ثُمَّ لَبِسْتُ حُلَّتِي، ثُمَّ دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ، فَرَمَانِي النَّاسُ بِالْحَدَقِ قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ لِجَلِيسِي: يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ، هَلْ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ أَمْرِي شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، ذَكَرَكَ بِأَحْسَنِ الذِّكْرِ، بَيْنَمَا هُوَ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ عَرَضَ لَهُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّهُ سَيَدْخُلُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَجِّ مِنْ خَيْرِ ذِي يَمَنٍ، أَلَا وَإِنَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مَسْحَةَ مَلَكٍ قَالَ جَرِيرٌ: فَحَمِدْتُ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

✧ When I drew near to Madinah, I made my mount kneel, then I untied my luggage, then I put on my fine garment, then I entered the mosque, and there was the Prophet ﷺ delivering a sermon. The people stared at me. He said: 'I said to my companion: "O servant of Allah, has the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned anything about me?" He said: "Yes, he mentioned you with the best mention. While he was delivering the sermon, he paused in his sermon and said: 'There will enter upon you from this mountain pass one of the best of the people of Yemen. Indeed, on his face is the mark of an angel.'"' Jarir said: 'So I praised Allah, Mighty and Majestic.'

machine translationIbn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Ismāʿīl, from Qays, from Jarīr. ʿĪsā b. Yūnus corroborated him, in the narration of Hāshim b. ʿUmar al-Ḥimṣī, known as Shaqrān, from him. Marwān al-Fazārī and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Maghrāʾ narrated it from Ismāʿīl b. Abī Khālid, from Abū Isḥāq al-Sabīʿī, who said: "It was narrated to me from the Prophet ﷺ." Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq narrated it from al-Mughīrah b. Shubayl, from Jarīr, and this is the correct one.
