✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to Yemen, and I met there two men: Dhu Kala' and Dhu 'Amr. He said: 'And I told them something of the news of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' He said: 'Then we set out, and when a mounted party from the direction of Madinah appeared to us, we asked them: "What is the news?" They said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has passed away, and Abu Bakr ؓ has been made successor, and the people are righteous."' He said: 'He said to me: "Inform your companion." So we returned, and then I met Dhu 'Amr, and he said to me: "O Jarir, you will continue to be in good as long as, when a ruler perishes, you deliberate concerning another. But when it becomes by the sword, you will be angry with the anger of kings and pleased with the pleasure of kings."'
