✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ prayed, he murmured something we did not understand and he would not tell us about it. He said: "The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Did you notice me?' A speaker said: 'Yes.' He said: 'I remembered a prophet among the prophets who was given armies from his people. He said: "Who can match these?" or "Who can stand against these?" or a similar word—Sulaymān was uncertain. He said: "So God revealed to him: 'Choose for your people between one of three: either I set upon them an enemy from other than them, or hunger, or death.'" He said: "So he consulted his people about that, and they said: 'You are the Prophet of God, we entrust that to you, so choose for us.'" He said: "So he stood for prayer." He said: "They would seek refuge in prayer when frightened." He said: "So he prayed." He said: "As for an enemy from other than them, no; or hunger, no; but death." He said: "So death was set upon them for three days, and seventy thousand of them died. So my murmuring which you see is that I say: 'O God, O Lord, with You I fight, with You I attack, and there is no might and no power except with God.'"
