✧ The Ansar heard that Abu Ubaidah had arrived with money from Bahrain, and the Prophet ﷺ had sent him to Bahrain. He arrived at the time of the Fajr prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished, they approached him. When he saw them, he smiled and said: "Perhaps you have heard that Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah has arrived, and has arrived with money?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Receive glad tidings and hope for good. By Allah, it is not poverty that I fear for you, but if the world is poured out upon you, you will compete for it just as those before you competed for it."

machine translationHishām b. Saʿd narrates it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUrwah, from al-Miswar, from the Prophet ﷺ. But Yūnus, Maʿmar, Mūsā b. ʿUqbah and Ṣāliḥ b. Kaysān contradicted him: they narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUrwah, from al-Miswar, from ʿAmr b. ʿAwf, an ally of the Banū ʿĀmir b. Luʾayy who witnessed Badr with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and this is the sound (ṣaḥīḥ) version.
