Translation

✧ A man said to al-Barāʾ: “O Abū ʿUmārah, did you turn back on the day of Ḥunayn?” He said: “No, by God, the Prophet ﷺ did not turn back, but the swift ones among the people turned back, and Hawāzin met them with arrows.” He said: “I saw the Prophet ﷺ on his white mule, with Abū Sufyān b. al-Ḥārith holding its bridle, while he was saying: ‘I am the Prophet, no lie; I am the son of ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib.’”
