✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us with seven things and forbade us from seven. He said: Then he mentioned what he commanded them: visiting the sick, following funerals, responding to the sneezer, returning the greeting, fulfilling the oath of one who swears, answering the invitation, and helping the oppressed. And he forbade us from silver vessels, and from gold rings — or he said gold rings — and silk brocade, silk, silk brocade, saddle cushions, and Qassi garments.

machine translationSawwār b. Muṣʿab narrates it from ʿAmr b. Qays, from Ashʿath b. Abī al-Shaʿthāʾ, from his paternal aunt, in this form, and he erred in it. The correct version is from Ashʿath, from Muʿāwiyah b. Suwayd b. Muqarrin, from al-Barāʾ, likewise. This is how al-Shaybānī, Misʿar, Shuʿbah and Layth b. Abī Sulaym narrated it from Ashʿath.
