حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو حَيَّانَ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ قَالَ
سَأَلَتْ أُمِّي أَبِي بَعْضَ الْمَوْهِبَةِ لِي فَوَهَبَهَا لِي فَقَالَتْ: لَا أَرْضَى حَتَّى تُشْهِدَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: فَأَخَذَ أَبِي بِيَدِي وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ، وَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ أُمَّ هَذَا ابْنَةَ رَوَاحَةَ زَاوَلَتْنِي عَلَى بَعْضِ الْمَوْهِبَةِ لَهُ، وَإِنِّي قَدْ وَهَبْتُهَا لَهُ، وَقَدْ أَعْجَبَهَا أَنْ أُشْهِدَكَ قَالَ: يَا بَشِيرُ، أَلَكَ ابْنٌ غَيْرُ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: فَوَهَبْتَ لَهُ مِثْلَ الَّذِي وَهَبْتَ لِهَذَا ؟ قَالَ: لَا. قَالَ: فَلَا تُشْهِدْنِي إِذًا، فَإِنِّي لَا أَشْهَدُ عَلَى جَوْرٍ

✧ My mother asked my father for some gift for me, so he gave it to me. She said, 'I will not be satisfied until you call the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as a witness.' He said: My father took me by the hand while I was a boy, and came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the mother of this boy, the daughter of Rawaha, pressed me about a gift for him, and I have given it to him. She liked me to call you as a witness.' He said, 'O Bashir, do you have a son other than this one?' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Did you give him the like of what you gave this one?' He said, 'No.' He said, 'Then do not call me as a witness, for I do not testify to injustice.'
