حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، تُوبُوا إِلَى اللهِ وَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ، فَإِنِّي أَتُوبُ إِلَى اللهِ وَأَسْتَغْفِرُهُ كُلِّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ، اثْنَتَانِ أَمْ وَاحِدَةٌ ؟ فَقَالَ: هُوَ ذَاكَ أَوْ نَحْوَ هَذَا.

Translation

✧ O people, repent to God and seek His forgiveness, for I repent to God and seek His forgiveness one hundred times every day. I said to him: 'O God, I seek Your forgiveness; O God, I repent to You—is it two things or one?' He said: 'That is it, or something like this.'
