✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about hunting with the miʿrāḍ. He said: “If you strike it with its sharp edge, then eat it; but if you strike it with its broad side, then it is a waqīdh (an animal killed by a blunt blow).” And I asked him about hunting with a dog. Wakīʿ said: “If you send your dog and mention Allah’s name, then eat.” He said: “Whatever it holds back for you and does not eat, then eat it, for its grasping is its slaughter. But if you find another dog with your dog and you fear that it took it together with it and has killed it, then do not eat, for you only mentioned Allah’s name over your dog and not over the other.”
