حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ عَنْ وَرَّادٍ كَاتِبِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ
سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ لَوْ رَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا مَعَ امْرَأَتِي لَضَرَبْتُهُ بِالسَّيْفِ غَيْرَ مُصْفَحٍ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَتَعْجَبُونَ مِنْ غَيْرَةِ سَعْدٍ فَوَاللهِ لَأَنَا أَغْيَرُ مِنْهُ وَاللهُ أَغْيَرُ مِنِّي وَمِنْ أَجْلِ غَيْرَةِ اللهِ حَرَّمَ الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَابَطَنَ وَلَا شَخْصَ أَغْيَرُ مِنَ اللهِ وَلَا شَخْصَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ الْعُذْرُ مِنَ اللهِ مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ بَعَثَ اللهُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنْذِرِينَ وَلَا شَخْصَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِدْحَةٌ مِنَ اللهِ مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ وَعَدَ اللهُ الْجَنَّةَ

✧ Sa'd b. 'Ubada said: If I saw a man with my wife, I would strike him with the sword, not with the flat side. This reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: Are you amazed at Sa'd's jealousy? By Allah, I am more jealous than he, and Allah is more jealous than I. Because of Allah's jealousy, He has forbidden immoralities, both open and secret. No one is more jealous than Allah, and no one loves to be excused more than Allah. For that reason, Allah sent the messengers as bearers of good tidings and warners. And no one loves praise more than Allah; for that reason, Allah has promised Paradise.
