حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ بَكْرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ خَصْلَتَانِ لَا أَسْأَلُ عَنْهُمَا أَحَدًا مِنَ النَّاسِ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَلَهُمَا صَلَاةُ الْإِمَامِ خَلْفَ الرَّجُلِ مِنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى خَلْفَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ رَكْعَةً مِنْ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ وَمَسْحُ الرَّجُلِ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ

Translation

Chain of narrators

✧ He said: Two things I will not ask anyone about: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do them: the imam praying behind a man from his congregation, and I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray one rak'ah of the dawn prayer behind Abd al-Rahman b. Awf; and a man wiping over his leather socks, and I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wipe over the leather socks.
