✧ The sun eclipsed in the forenoon until its darkness became intense. Al-Mughira b. Shuʿba stood and led the people in prayer. He stood for about the length of reciting a sūra from the mathānī, then bowed for a similar length, then raised his head and stood for a similar length, then bowed the second time for a similar length. Then the sun cleared, and he prostrated. Then he stood for about the length of reciting a sūra, then bowed and prostrated. Then he departed, ascended the pulpit, and said: 'The sun eclipsed on the day Ibrāhīm, the son of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, died. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood and said: The sun and the moon do not eclipse for the death of anyone. They are but two signs among the signs of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. So when one of them eclipses, hasten to prayer.' Then he descended and narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in prayer and began blowing in front of him. Then he extended his hand as if reaching for something. When he finished, he said: 'The Fire was brought near to me until I blew its heat away from my face. I saw in it the owner of the hooked staff, the one who slit the ears of the baḥīra, and the woman of Ḥimyar, the owner of the cat.'
