✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned to him a woman I intended to propose to. He said: 'Go and look at her, for that is more likely to create affection between you two.' He said: So I went to a woman of the Anṣār and proposed to her to her parents, and I informed them of the saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. It was as if they disliked that. He said: The woman heard that while she was in her curtained chamber, and she said: 'If the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded you to look, then look; otherwise, I adjure you.' It was as if she deemed that a serious matter against him. He said: So I looked at her and married her. [He said:] And he mentioned her compatibility.
