حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا حَدَّثَنَا عَامِرٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُطِيعٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ يَقُولُ: « لَا يُقْتَلُ قُرَشِيٌّ صَبْرًا بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ ». وَلَمْ يُدْرِكِ الْإِسْلَامَ أَحَدٌ مِنْ عُصَاةِ قُرَيْشٍ غَيْرُ مُطِيعٍ، وَكَانَ اسْمُهُ عَاصِي، فَسَمَّاهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مُطِيعًا.
Translation

✧ He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say on the day of the conquest of Makkah: “No Qurayshi will be killed in retaliation (ṣabran) after this day.” And no one from the disobedient of Quraysh embraced Islam except as an obedient one, and his name was ʿĀṣī (disobedient), so the Prophet ﷺ named him Muṭīʿ (obedient).
