حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ قَالَ
اسْتَأْذَنَ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ عَلَى فَاطِمَةَ فَأَذِنَتْ لَهُ، قَالَ: ثَمَّ عَلِيٌّ؟ قَالُوا: لَا. قَالَ: فَرَجَعَ ثُمَّ اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيْهَا مَرَّةً أُخْرَى. فَقَالَ: ثَمَّ عَلِيٌّ؟ قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ: مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَدْخُلَ حِينَ لَمْ تَجِدْنِي هَاهُنَا، قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَدْخُلَ عَلَى الْمُغِيبَاتِ.
Translation

✧ He returned then asked for permission again, and Ali said, "May I enter?" They said, "Yes," so he entered and Ali said to him, "What prevented you from entering when you did not find me here?" He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from entering upon those who are absent."
