✧ When the plague struck Syria, Amr b. al-As addressed the people and said: "This plague is a punishment, so disperse from it into these mountain passes and these valleys." This reached Sharhabil ibn Hasnah, who became angry and came dragging his garment, holding his sandals in his hand, and said: "I accompanied the Messenger of God ﷺ, and Amr is more astray than his family's donkey. Rather, it is a mercy from your Lord, the supplication of your Prophet, and the death of the righteous before you."
