✧ If only you could have seen me, Qutham, and Ubaydullah, the two sons of Abbas, when we were boys playing, and the Prophet ﷺ passed by on a mount. He said: 'Lift this one up to me.' He carried me in front of him, and he said concerning Qutham: 'Lift this one up to me,' and he placed him behind him. Ubaydullah was dearer to Abbas than Qutham, but he did not feel ashamed before his uncle for carrying Qutham and leaving him. He said: Then he wiped my head three times, and each time he wiped he said: 'O God, grant a successor to Ja'far in his children.' He said: I said to Abdullah: 'What happened to Qutham?' He said: 'He was martyred.' He said: I said: 'God knows best about the good, and His Messenger knows best about the good.' He said: 'Indeed.'
