حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي

أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يُكْرُونَ الْأَرْضَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَا يَنْبُتُ عَلَى الْأَرْبِعَاءِ، وَشَيْءٌ مِنَ الزَّرْعِ يَسْتَثْنِيهِ صَاحِبُ الزَّرْعِ، فَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَقُلْتُ لِرَافِعٍ: كَيْفَ كِرَاؤُهَا بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمِ، فَقَالَ رَافِعٌ: لَيْسَ بِهَا بَأْسٌ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمِ

Translation

✧ They used to lease land in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for what grows on the watercourses, and something of the crop that the owner of the crop would exclude. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade that. I said to Rafi': "How is leasing it for dinars and dirhams?" Rafi' said: "There is no harm in it for dinars and dirhams."
