حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ كُنْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِ عِمَارَةَ بْنِ رُوَيْبَةَ وَبِشْرٌ يَخْطُبُنَا فَلَمَّا دَعَا رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ
كُنْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ رُوَيْبَةَ، وَبِشْرٌ يَخْطُبُنَا، فَلَمَّا دَعَا رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ، فَقَالَ عُمَارَةُ: يَعْنِي قَبَّحَ اللهُ هَاتَيْنِ الْيَدَيْنِ، أَوْ هَاتَيْنِ الْيُدَيَّتَيْنِ، رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ إِذَا دَعَا يَقُولُ هَكَذَا: وَرَفَعَ السَّبَّابَةَ وَحْدَهَا
Translation

✧ I was beside 'Umarah b. Ruwaybah while Bishr was delivering a sermon to us. When he supplicated, he raised his hands, so 'Umarah said — meaning: May Allah disfigure these two hands, or these two little hands. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was delivering a sermon, when he supplicated he did like this: and he raised his index finger alone.
