✧ al-`Arbadh bin Sariyah on the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتُ الْعِرْبَاضِ عَنْ أَبِيهَا
كَانَ يَأْخُذُ الْوَبَرَةَ مِنْ فَيْءِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَيَقُولُ: مَا لِي مِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا مِثْلُ مَا لِأَحَدِكُمْ إِلَّا الْخُمُسَ، وَهُوَ مَرْدُودٌ فِيكُمْ، فَأَدُّوا الْخَيْطَ وَالْمِخْيَطَ فَمَا فَوْقَهُمَا، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْغُلُولَ، فَإِنَّهُ عَارٌ وَشَنَارٌ عَلَى صَاحِبِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ.
Translation

✧ He used to take a hair from the spoils of God, mighty and majestic, and say: I have no right to this except like any of you, except the fifth, and it is returned to you. So give the thread and the needle and what is above them. And beware of embezzlement, for it is disgrace and shame for its doer on the Day of Resurrection.
