قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ جَارُنَا قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ الْأَثْرَمُ الْبَصْرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَلَّامُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْقَارِئُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ ابْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ ضِرَارِ بْنِ الْأَزْوَرِ قَالَ
أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ امْدُدْ يَدَكَ أُبَايِعْكَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ قَالَ ضِرَارٌ ثُمَّ قُلْتُتَرَكْتُ الْقِدَاحَ وَعَزْفَ الْقِيَانِ وَالْخَمْرَ تَصْلِيَةً وَابْتِهَالَاوَكَرِّي الْمُحَبَّرَ فِي غَمْرَةٍ وَحَمْلِي عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ الْقِتَالَافَيَا رَبِّ لَا أُغْبَنَنْ سَفْعَتِي فَقَدْ بِعْتُ مَالِي وَأَهْلِي ابْتِدَالَافَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَا غُبِنَتْ سَفْعَتَكَ يَا ضِرَارُ

✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'Extend your hand that I may pledge allegiance to you upon Islam.' Dirar said: Then I said: 'I have left the divining arrows and the music of singing girls, and wine in prayer and supplication. And my attack upon the adorned one in the thick of battle, and my charge against the polygamous in combat. O Lord, let not my blackness be cheated, for I have sold my wealth and my family as a substitute.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Your blackness has not been cheated, O Dirar.'
