حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ قَالَ

كُنْتُ أَبِيتُ عِنْدَ بَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أُعْطِيهِ وَضُوءَهُ، فَأَسْمَعُهُ بَعْدَ هَوِيٍّ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يَقُولُ: سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ، وَالْهَوِيَّ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يَقُولُ: الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

✧ I used to spend the night at the door of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ giving him his water for ablution, and I would hear him after a long part of the night say: “Allah hears the one who praises Him,” and for a long part of the night he would say: “Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.”
