حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ زَمْعَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ {إِذْ انْبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا} [الشمس 12] انْبَعَثَ لَهَا رَجُلٌ عَارِمٌ عَزِيزٌ مَنِيعٌ فِي رَهْطِهِ مِثْلُ ابِنِ زَمْعَةَ ثُمَّ وَعَظَهُمْ فِي الضَّحِكِ مِنَ الضَّرْطَةِفَقَالَ إِلَامَ يَضْحَكُ أَحَدُكُمْ مِمَّا يَفْعَلُ؟ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِلَامَ يَجْلِدُ أَحَدُكُمْ امْرَأَتَهُ جَلْدَ الْعَبْدِ ثُمَّ لَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يُضَاجِعَهَا مِنْ آخِرِ يَوْمِهِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "{When the most wretched of them was sent forth} [al-Shams 12], there was sent forth for it a man who was bold, mighty, and invincible among his clan, like Ibn Zamaʿa." Then he admonished them regarding laughing at passing wind, saying: "Why would one of you laugh at what he himself does?" He said: Then he said: "Why would one of you flog his wife like flogging a slave, and then perhaps lie with her at the end of his day?"
