✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the delegation of Thaqif, and we were in a tent. Everyone in it left except me and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. A man came and whispered to him, and he said: "Go and kill him." Then he said: "Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah?" He said: Yes, but he says it seeking protection. He said: "Bring him back." Then he said: "I was commanded to fight the people until they say, 'There is no god but Allah.' When they say it, their blood and property become inviolable except by its right." I said to Shu'ba: Is it not in the hadith that he then said: "Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?" Shu'ba said: I think it is with it, but I do not know.
