حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ وَاثِلَةَ بْنَ الْأَسْقَعِ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ
إِنَّ أَعْظَمَ الْفِرَى ثَلَاثَةٌ: أَنْ يَفْتَرِيَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى عَيْنَيْهِ يَقُولُ: رَأَيْتُ، وَلَمْ يَرَ. وَأَنْ يَفْتَرِيَ عَلَى وَالِدَيْهِ، فَيَدَّعِي إِلَى غَيْرِ أَبِيهِ. أَوْ يَقُولُ: سَمِعَنِي، وَلَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنِّي.

✧ Indeed, the greatest of slanders are three: that a man slanders his own eyes, saying 'I saw' when he did not see; that he slanders his parents, claiming to belong to a father other than his own; or that he says 'He heard me' when he did not hear from me.
