✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ entered upon ʿUbādah b. al-Ṣāmit to visit him during his illness, and the Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Do you know who the martyr from my community is?” The people remained silent, so ʿUbādah said: “Prop me up.” So they propped him up, and he said: “O Messenger of God, the patient one who seeks reward.” The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Then the martyrs of my community would be few indeed. Being killed in the way of God (mighty and glorious is He) is martyrdom; the plague is martyrdom; drowning is martyrdom; stomach disease is martyrdom; and the woman who dies in childbirth—her child will drag her with its umbilical cord into Paradise.”
