حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زِيَادٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي جَدَّتِيالرَّبَابُ وَقَالَ يُونُسُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ حُنَيْفٍ يَقُولُ
مَرَرْنَا بِسَيْلٍ، فَدَخَلْتُ، فَاغْتَسَلْتُ مِنْهُ، فَخَرَجْتُ مَحْمُومًا. فَنُمِيَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: مُرُوا أَبَا ثَابِتٍ يَتَعَوَّذُ. قُلْتُ: يَا سَيِّدِي، وَالرُّقَى صَالِحَةٌ؟ قَالَ: لَا رُقْيَةَ إِلَّا فِي نَفْسٍ، أَوْ حُمَةٍ أَوْ لَدْغَةٍ

✧ We passed by a stream, so I entered and bathed in it, and came out with a fever. That was reported to the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he said: Tell Abū Thābit to seek refuge. I said: O my master, are ruqyas sound? He said: No ruqya except for the evil eye, or a sting, or a bite.
