✧ My Father, the Soul of al-Kla'ei

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ قَالَ

أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الصُّبْحَ، فَقَرَأَ بِالرُّومِ، فَتَرَدَّدَ فِي آيَةٍ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ: إِنَّهُ يَلْبِسُ عَلَيْنَا الْقُرْآنَ أَنَّ أَقْوَامًا مِنْكُمْ يُصَلُّونَ مَعَنَا لَا يُحْسِنُونَ الْوُضُوءَ، فَمَنْ شَهِدَ الصَّلَاةَ مَعَنَا فَلْيُحْسِنِ الْوُضُوءَ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Abū Saʿīd a freed slave of Banī Hāshim
  2. Zāʾidah
  3. ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr

✧ He prayed the morning prayer with the Prophet ﷺ, and he recited al-Rum but hesitated in a verse. When he finished, he said: It is only that the Quran is confused for us because some people among you pray with us without performing ablution well. So whoever attends the prayer with us should perform ablution well.
