✧ Amir b. Rabi'ah and Sahl b. Hunayf set out intending to bathe. He said: They went looking for a place screened by trees. He said: Amir took off a woolen cloak he was wearing, and I looked at him and struck him with my eye, so he went down into the water to bathe. He said: I heard a gurgling sound from him in the water. I went to him and called him three times, but he did not answer me. So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. He said: He came walking and waded into the water, and it is as if I can see the whiteness of his shins. He said: Then he struck his chest with his hand and said: O Allah, remove from him its heat, its cold, and its pain. He said: Then he stood up, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When one of you sees something in his brother, or in himself, or in his wealth that pleases him, let him invoke blessing upon it, for the evil eye is real.
