حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا زَبَّانُ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

أَنَّهُ مَرَّ عَلَى قَوْمٍ وَهُمْ وُقُوفٌ عَلَى دَوَابَّ لَهُمْ وَرَوَاحِلَ، فَقَالَ لَهُمُ: ارْكَبُوهَا سَالِمَةً، وَدَعُوهَا سَالِمَةً، وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوهَا كَرَاسِيَّ لِأَحَادِيثِكُمْ فِي الطُّرُقِ وَالْأَسْوَاقِ، فَرُبَّ مَرْكُوبَةٍ خَيْرٌ مِنْ رَاكِبِهَا وَأَكْثَرُ ذِكْرًا لِلهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى مِنْهُ

Translation

✧ He passed by some people who were standing by their riding beasts and mounts, and said to them: Ride them safely, and leave them safely, and do not make them chairs for your conversations in the roads and markets. For many a ridden beast is better than its rider and remembers Allah, Blessed and Exalted, more than he does.
