✧ I was brought to the Prophet ﷺ on the day of the conquest of Makkah. Uthman b. Affan brought me, and Zuhayr, and they began praising me to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them: Do not inform me about him; he was my companion in the Jahiliyyah. He said: I said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah, and what an excellent companion you were. He said: O Sa'ib, look to the qualities of character that you used to practice in the Jahiliyyah and apply them in Islam: honor the guest, be generous to the orphan, and be good to your neighbor.
