✧ We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and when we had completed our 'umrah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us: "Engage in mut'ah with these women." He said: And mut'ah among us was the day of marriage. He said: We proposed that to the women, but they refused unless we set a term between us and them. He said: We mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: "Do it." He said: I went out with a cousin of mine, and he had a striped garment and I had a striped garment, and his garment was better than mine, and I was more youthful than him. We came to a woman and proposed that to her. My youth pleased her, and my cousin's garment pleased her. She said: "A garment for a garment." He said: So I married her, and the term between me and her was ten days. He said: I spent that night with her, then in the morning I went to the mosque, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ between the door and the Black Stone, addressing the people, saying: "O people, I had permitted you to engage in mut'ah with these women. Indeed, Allah, blessed and exalted is He, has forbidden that until the Day of Resurrection. Whoever has any of them, let him release her, and do not take back anything of what you have given them."
