حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ

إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَمَرَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ وَهُوَ بِالْبَطْحَاءِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ الْكَعْبَةَ فَيَمْحُوَ كُلَّ صُورَةٍ فِيهَا وَلَمْ يَدْخُلِ الْبَيْتَ حَتَّى مُحِيَتْ كُلُّ صُورَةٍ فِيهِ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ commanded ʿUmar b. al-Khattab on the day of the conquest, while he was at al-Batḥāʾ, to go to the Kaʿbah and erase every image in it. He did not enter the House until every image in it had been erased.
