✧ One day the Prophet ﷺ wore a qaba' (outer garment) of silk brocade that had been gifted to him. Then he was quick to take it off and sent it to ʿUmar b. al-Khattab. It was said: 'You were quick to take it off, O Messenger of God.' He said: 'Gabriel ﷺ forbade me from it.' Then ʿUmar came to him weeping and said: 'O Messenger of God, you disliked something and gave it to me, so what is wrong with me?' He said: 'I did not give it to you to wear. I only gave it to you to sell.' So he sold it for two thousand dirhams.
