حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍعَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ تَطَوُّعًا حَيْثُ تَوَجَّهَتْ بِهِ فِي السَّفَرِ، فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ نَزَلَ عَنْ رَاحِلَتِهِ وَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ.

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray supererogatory prayers on his mount, wherever it turned with him during travel. When he wanted to pray the obligatory prayer, he dismounted from his mount and faced the qiblah.
