✧ Al-Tufayl b. 'Amr al-Dawsi came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, would you like a fortified stronghold and protection?'—a fortress belonging to Daws in the Jahiliyyah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ declined that because of what Allah, Mighty and Majestic, had reserved for the Ansar. When the Prophet ﷺ emigrated to Madinah, al-Tufayl b. 'Amr emigrated to him, and a man from his people emigrated with him. They found the climate of Madinah disagreeable, and the man fell ill. He became distressed, took some arrowheads of his, and cut his knuckles with them. His hands bled profusely until he died. Al-Tufayl b. 'Amr saw him in a dream, appearing in a good state, but with his hand covered. He said to him, 'What did your Lord do with you?' He said, 'He forgave me because of my emigration to His Prophet ﷺ.' He said, 'Why do I see you covering your hand?' He said, 'It was said to me: We will not repair what you corrupted.' He said: Al-Tufayl related this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O Allah, forgive his hands too.'
