حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا بَلَغَهُ مَوْتُ النَّجَاشِيِّ قَالَ: صَلُّوا عَلَى أَخٍ لَكُمْ مَاتَ بِغَيْرِ بِلَادِكُمْ قَالَ: فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابُهُ. قَالَ جَابِرٌ: فَكُنْتُ فِي الصَّفِّ الثَّانِي أَوِ الثَّالِثِ قَالَ: وَكَانَ اسْمُهُ أَصْحَمَةَ.

Translation

✧ When the death of the Negus reached the Messenger of God ﷺ, he said: "Pray over a brother of yours who has died in a land other than yours." He said: So the Messenger of God ﷺ and his companions prayed over him. Jabir said: I was in the second or third row. He said: His name was Ashamah.
