✧ Sulayman b. Hisham said to me: This one—meaning al-Zuhri—does not let us eat anything except he commands us to perform ablution because of it, meaning what fire has touched. I said to him: I asked Sa'id b. al-Musayyab about it, and he said: If you eat it, it is good, and you do not need ablution for it. But if it comes out, then it is foul, and you must perform ablution for it. He said: Is there anyone in the land? I said: Yes, the most knowledgeable man in the Arabian Peninsula. He said: Who? I said: Ata b. Abi Rabah. Bahz said: So he sent for him and he was brought. He said: He sent for him and said.
