حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَغْزُو فِي الشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَّا أَنْ يُغْزَى أَوْ يُغْزَوْا، فَإِذَا حَضَرَهُ أَقَامَ حَتَّى يَنْسَلِخَ.

Translation

  1. Isḥāq b. ʿĪsá
  2. Layth b. Saʿīd
  3. Abū al-Zubayr
  4. Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

✧ The Prophet ﷺ never used to engage in warfare during the sacred month unless he was attacked or someone attacked him. When he was confronted with such a situation, he would remain steadfast until the aggressors withdrew.
